Some Interviews

My contract's ending soon.. end November and currently, I'm already started my hunt for a new job. Actually, I was so careless when I took up the current job. So anyone out there reading this, do note when you are thinking of working on contract. Always take note of the termination terms and condition. If it's not there, do remember to ask and make sure it's black and white. If it's a bond contract, then you better think twice. Anyway, what happens to me was I don't actually remember anything about my termination terms. I guess at that point of time, I was really grateful for a job and will say yes to everything and anything.. I called the job agency and was told that there's no termination terms in the contract. So I was so called bonded until the end of this contract. Although I don't think my current boss will be so heartless. I feel that I can leave if I want to... since the previous girl left after only 3 months and this contract is for 6 mth... but it's a bit scary.. can you imagine if it's a nightmare job and you are stuck there... like living hell... anyway.. the agent suggested that I can discuss with my boss if I decide to leave.
Anyway, my job hunt started with me sending my resume to a magazine company and a film production company. The magazine company had a phone interview with me and I failed the interview, which I wasn't disappointed. The production company's job title is actually very unattractive, but the jobscope was really cool.. it's a production company afterall. The person drop me an email to arrange an interview. I did went for it. Went during lunch time. The place was brand new and the company is starting a school in Singapore. The job scope is very interesting, challenging, exciting and I expect very stressful... I like it.. hee.. but unfortunately, the guy never call back.. so sad... then what I did was, I put up my resume on Monster.com and Bestjobs... it's pretty amazing, for this whole week, I have quite a lot of calls with job offer. I rejected 2 offer and went for 2 interviews. The third one is pending. The first interview was a very very small graphic company.. reminds me of my bad experience in a small company. I kinda reject it the moment I step into the office. Anyway, the interviewer was looking for some factors which I don't think I have. But I'm glad I came because, she give me an overview of what she felt I am actually looking for based on what I've descibe. I did get a third party's eyeview and have a clearer picture of what I wanted and giving me more focus in my job hunt. The second interview is at Kallang. It's a local IT company and the job exposure based on what was described to me was very good.. I think I will like it. Unfortunately, the pay may not be what I expected because as usual, I don't have the relevant experience and exposure. The interview will get back in a couple of days. I think if the pay is not less what what I'm having now, then I think I will take it even though it's in Kallang.. cry...

It's pretty amazing that some companies take so long to grow while others prefer to maintain the size for years. The horrible small pharma trading company that I've worked for was around for about 11 years, and it's still a small horrible company and the so call 'global presense' was actually the father of the boss having a small company in Shanghai and some indentors and representatives in other parts of the China and Philippines and donno where. (Indentors are 'middlemen' who connect the sales between the buyer and seller and make commissions from successful sales. In this case, buyer and seller are both aware of who the other party is. This trade is very common and still profitable in countries like Philippines and Taiwan but in Singapore it's not workable at all because over here, we prefer to trade directly.) So was the graphic company that I went for the interview. It was about 7 to 8 years and still so small and from the sound of the interviewer who is the boss, she sounded a bit discourage of her business because she actually talked about the company will get involve in charity work just in case if the company ever close down, at least they have done something meaningful... that's a really depressing thought.... This Kallang one was around for 7 years and already expanding to become a group company. The brand does exist in Singapore and can be seen in a lot of IT stores and malls... I've seen them around... and the quality and design are really cool...even though I'm not crazy over such IT products... I believe this company is big enough because there's actually sales people and the company is hiring marketing people... stingy companies will hire someone who will do both sales and marketing... I presume... maybe I'm wrong, but it's my perception.

I started my class on Wednesday.. it's on Public Relation and my friend is the only guy in the class.. haa... the lecturer is a guy and he forgot about the class since it's the first lesson and he thought it will only start next week... he was late for over an hour... He came into the class and started ice-breaking session, asking us a frightening question: What is the most exciting thing you have done in your life. Chimz~ I really freaked out.. my life is plain dull... some of the people really have exciting life or career..one even work inspecting cemeteries.. Eek!!.. I mentioned about the time I did volunteer one-to-one tutoring. I volunteered alone. Unfortunately and sadly, I have to stop because I was over burdened with examinations and work.. I felt so bad when I had to stop because it took a while for the boy to be friendly.. For the second boy, I had to visit his home in Yishun... this one stretched until the boy finished his exams. Actually I felt weird then because the boy already have paid home tuition and he's taking free tutoring? Very weird right? Anyway, either the boy was not hardworking enough or my teaching skill is lousy, the boy's result was horrible.. but I can't do much with 1 hr a week tutoring, moreover, the program only started from the middle of the year. The tutoring just stop automatically after the examination.. I'm pretty glad actually...because my hands were again full with exams by then..

Oh well, I better get back to my work... someone needs 700 copies of feedback forms.. oh gosh.. why they dun outsource leh.. the copier will explode soon.. haa..
